MDAC Announced Availability of Specialty Crop Grant Funds

Commissioner Lester Spell announced that the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is now accepting proposals for Mississippi’s FY 2010 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. The purpose of the program is to solely enhance the competitiveness of Mississippi’s specialty crop industry. MORE
 
MS Farmers facing catastrophic losses

Mississippi farmers are experiencing devastating crop losses due to the record rainfalls during September and October causing crop yields and quality to be severely affected. Current crop conditions show very poor quality and yield for farms which, in some cases, leave farmers only very low discounted prices or total crop loss. MORE
 
Good News: The 150th MS State Fair to be extended

Lester Spell, Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce and State Fair Commission Chairman, along with Mike Williams, of North American Midway Entertainment, have announced that the 150th Mississippi State Fair will be extended one extra day for Mississippi fairgoers to enjoy. The extended day will be known as $2 MONDAY, offering fairgoers discounted prices on admission ($2), parking ($2), rides ($2), corndogs ($2), and other discounted food items offered by vendors. MORE
 
MDAC Receives USDA Specialty Crop Grant
