About Us
The Mississippi Beekeepers Association is a chartered non-profit organization. It's pupose is the advancement and protection of the interests of beekeepers commercially, educationally and socially.

Annual Dues:

Commercial Operation (50+ hives) - $30.00
Hobby Operation (less than 50 hives)- $10.00
Associate (No hives)- $2.00

 

Annual Convention:

The association holds an annual convention in late October or November. Local chapters host the convention on alternating years, usually in Jackson, Grenada, Hattiesburg, Pascagoula, and Vicksburg in the future.

Members are eligible to subscribe to current periodicals and magazines at discount rates as follows: American Bee Journal, Bee Culture Magazine, and The Speedy Bee Newspaper. Also, the association sponsors and mails in cooperation with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Plant Industry, a monthly newsletter entitled "Bee News & Views". However, subscribers are not required to be a member of the Mississippi Beekeepers Association.

Activities:

Operates a booth at the annual Mississippi State Fair, including honey exhibition contests.

Sets up and operates exhibits at conservation field days for elementary students, festivals and garden shows.

Members give talks to school classes on beekeeping.

Sponsor at least one beekeeping shortcourse, and sometimes two, each year.

Lobbies both the U.S. Congress and the State Legislature on matters of legislation affecting the beekeeping industry.

Helps fund and publish booklets, etc on beekeeping practices.

Available Lecturers for local in-county school classes, garden & civic clubs etc.
