The purpose of the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) is to solely enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops.
Funding for this program is made available from the United States Department of Agriculture through authorization from the Specialty Crops Competitiveness Act of 2004 as amended by the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (Farm Bill). The Market Development Division of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is responsible for administering this program.

The FY2012 Request for Proposals is now available. The deadline to submit an application to MDAC is May 2, 2012.
