Commissioner Hyde-Smith's Welcome

Dear Fairgoers,

I am honored to welcome you to the 155th Mississippi State Fair on behalf of the Mississippi Fair Commission and the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce.

The Mississippi State Fair means something different to each individual.  To some, it is about entertainment like the carnival rides and concerts.  For others, it means the opportunity to participate in one of the many competitions such as the livestock shows.  No matter what makes this 12-day extravaganza special to you, the Mississippi State Fair has something to offer those of all ages.  Over the years, the State Fair has evolved and expanded to enhance the fairgoers' experience, but it remains true to its strong agricultural heritage by continuing to offer fun-filled, family entertainment.

Visiting the Mississippi State Fair is an annual tradition for many families.  I encourage you to make the most of your visit.  This Fun Guide provides you with a schedule of activities and events that you will not want to miss.  You can also download our State Fair app which is free for download from the Apple Store and Android Store directly to your smart phones, iPads, and tablets.  If this is your first visit to the State Fair, take time to enjoy all that it has to offer.  If you have attended in the past, experience something new this year.  When you smell the aroma of fresh biscuits, you will know that you are close to the Biscuit Booth on the Midway where the employees of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce will be serving complimentary biscuits made from scratch.

I welcome Rick Reno to the staff of the Mississippi Fair Commission as the new Executive Director.  He brings years of experience and an added level of expertise to our organization.  I look forward to many future accomplishments as we strive to enhance all of the events we enjoy throughout the year.

I hope that you enjoy your time at the 155th Mississippi State Fair.  Thank you for supporting the Mississippi State Fair and for keeping the Mississippi tradition alive.

Sincerely,

Cindy Hyde-Smith
