The Mississippi Metrology Laboratory is accredited by the National Institute of Standards and Technology for the testing of mass, volume, and length. The Metrology Laboratory uses these standards to calibrate the weights and volume measures used by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce and service companies that install, repair, and test scales and gas pumps used for commerce in the state of Mississippi. The laboratory is a 2.25 million dollar facility, located on the campus of Alcorn State University and operated by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce.
